Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
X-Rechnung is a standard for electronic invoices in Germany and Europe that ensures invoices are digital and legally compliant. This e-invoicing tool is a free online service that helps you create such invoices. Simply enter your invoice data (like supplier, customer, and items), and the tool automatically generates an XML file or a PDF. Everything happens directly in your browser, with no data sent to servers.
EN 16931 is a European standard for electronic invoices that ensures invoices are clearly structured and machine-readable. A standard-compliant invoice contains all key details such as tax numbers, amounts, and descriptions. The tool ensures your invoices follow this standard, which is mandatory for business partners and public authorities.
ZUGFeRD is a format that combines a regular PDF with a hidden digital invoice, allowing both humans and machines to read it. It’s useful for automated accounting. In the tool, you can enable this option to generate a PDF along with the XML file — especially helpful when recipients need a visually readable document.
You can simplify your invoicing process in several ways. Fill in the fields (invoice number, dates, items), select the currency, and enable the PDF format if needed. The tool automatically calculates taxes and totals. Use templates to save recurring data and download your files directly. Follow the input instructions for best results.
How often you issue electronic invoices depends on your business — for example, monthly for regular billing or per project. For small businesses and corporate clients, it’s recommended to use them by default since they are faster and more secure. Check the tool regularly for updates to stay compliant. In general: the more digital your invoicing, the smoother your workflow.
This e-invoicing tool is a helpful way to create invoices but does not replace full accounting software. If you need complex processes, detailed audits, or system integrations, consider professional software or an accountant. The tool helps with invoice creation but is only one part of full accounting. When in doubt, consult a professional.
